 Registry 작업은
殘忍(잔인)하다(unforgiving). 한번 수정하면
다시 reedit하기 전에는 permanent하다. Undo의 기능도 없으며, 여느 윈도우즈 프로그램처럼 수정한 것을
저장하겠느냐는 warning도 없다. 가장 안전한 방법은 수정작업 전에 Back Up을 받아두는 것이다. Better
Safe than sorry...Registry를 Back
Up하는 세가지 방식을 아래에 정리해본다
(1) System Restore
Start-> Control Panel -> Perfomance and Maintenance (XP category view)
-> System Restore
또는 Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System
Restore
(2) Back Up Utility
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup
Wizard를 실행할 경우 What to back up 스크린이 나오면 "Only Back Up the System State
Data"를 선택하면 XP를 부팅할 때 필요한 boot files, system files 뿐만 아니라 Registry까지
백업하게 된다. Wizard를 사용하지 않을 때는 Backup 탭을 눌러 System State 박스를 체크하여준다.
(3) Registry Editor
Registry를 백업하는 가장 쉬운 방법이겠으나, password polcies나 user rights등을 제어하는 SAM과
Security등 두 가지 registry key를 백업하지 않는다.
Start -> RUN 박스에 regedit를 치면 Registry Editor 화면이 나오고 My Computer를
highlight한후 File -> Export를 클릭한다. 파일이름과 저장 위치를 정한 후 save 클릭하면
Backup (export)이 끝난다. 백업카피를 다른 컴퓨터나 CD에 만들어 두는 것도 좋은 생각이겠다.
이렇게 백업 받은 Registry를 Restore하는 방법은 File -> Import하면 된다.
